ABOUT THE SCREEN 100

STRUCTURAL AND SCULPTURAL

Screen 100 brings Alvar Aalto’s free-flowing, organic form — one of his predominant architectural themes — into living interiors. Now available as a range of four height options, its vertically-aligned pinewood strips provide structure and order while adding natural warmth and organic character to a space. The screen heights of 100 cm, 130 cm and 180 cm return to the collection, supplementing the current 150 cm screen to cater to the varying needs of contemporary interiors. It can be rolled up for storage and rolled out to form gently curving lines that can be shaped according to the needs of the space. Light and well-proportioned, the screen is easy to move around as needed and brings the warmth of wood to any room.

Artek

Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl. Their goal was “to sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means.

In keeping with the radical spirit of its founders, Artek today remains an innovative player in the world of modern design, developing new products at the intersection of design, architecture, and art.

The Artek collection consists of furniture, lighting, and accessories designed by Finnish masters and leading international designers. It stands for clarity, functionality, and poetic simplicity.

Designer

ALVAR AALTO

Aalto’s distinctively Finnish architecture is defined by warmth, human scale and a dynamic relationship with nature, expressed through considered materials, meticulous details and inventive use of light.

He approached furniture as an extension of architecture, co-founding Artek with his wife Aino in 1935 to bring their furniture, lighting and textiles to an international audience. Celebrated in Europe as a furniture designer before gaining recognition as an architect, Aalto’s innovations in form and line remain central to his legacy—and at the heart of the Artek collection.
