Founded in 2009 by Italian designers Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin, Formafantasma is a research-led studio exploring the relationship between design and the natural and built environment. Its work considers the material, technical, social and political forces that shape contemporary design.

Working between Milan and Rotterdam, the studio’s practice spans product and spatial design, strategic planning and consultancy. Across both commercial commissions and independent research, Formafantasma applies a rigorous attention to context, process and detail.

By examining the legacy of industrial production alongside its environmental impact, the studio uses design as a tool for critical thinking and meaningful transformation.
